Brittany Mattox

Lyrical

Brittany Mattox is originally from Chicago, Illinois where at a young age began her dance training. Classically trained in ballet, tap and jazz Brittany quit dance when she was 9 years old to commit to the sport of competitive gymnastics, where she trained and competed nationwide under internationally acclaimed Russian coaches for five years. She then moved to Idaho when she was 13 and became a competitive cheerleader. With the slightest taste of dance movement Brittany found herself back in the Dance world.

With not many places to train in Moscow, Idaho Brittany duel enrolled throughout high school at the University of Idaho in ballet and hip hop. After having the opportunity to visit Los Angeles during that time, she knew that Dance is what her future would be paved with. At 18 she moved to Seattle to continue her training. Soon after she joined contemporary/jazz based Third Shift Dance Company, of which she was a member for 4 years. She also quickly became a back up dancer, and eventually Dance captain and choreographer of “Le Faux” at Julia’s on Broadway. In 2016 she assisted in choreographing, producing and dancing in “Magnifique,” a burlesque-cabaret review including a full Fosse infused tribute of the musical “Chicago.”

Over the past 6 years Brittany has developed a personal practice and preference within all different styles of dance, and is excited to share them with the Westlake Community. She believes that there is nothing more healing or exploratory than intentional movement, and feels honored to be able to share that practice with others.”
